PSØ8 - Circuit Advantages

Extremely Low Power Current

The combination of an ultra-low power microcontroller with the PICOSTRAIN measuring principle shows an extremely low overall current consumption of the total system. It is possible to reduce the power consumption by a factor 10 to 20 over ADCs.

One Solution for Many Applications

PSØ8 suits systems with 1.500 - 100.000 divisions resolution and update rates to 500 Hz. One chip covers many applications just by variation of the software.

Reduced Cost - Small Compact Chip Size

PSØ8 reduces battery costs. In many applications a single coin cell battery may last for 10 years under normal operation. AC-Adapter are no longer necessary even for calibrated scales. The number of external components is far below the usual (14 passive components, LCD, switches, battery).

New Products Are Now Possible

There are new product options mainly due to the low current consumption and low operating voltage. Now solar driven applications and 1.55 V silver-oxide batteries are possible. The measurement quality is impressive even at those low voltages. It might be difficult to find something comparable in the market.

Improved Quality

PSØ8 offers unique possibilities to simplify the loadcell production and to improve quality at the same time. By means of gain correction with software it becomes redundant to select loadcells for quattro scales. Also offset and gain drift over temperature are correctable.
